Do you believe in the healing power of art? Are you passionate about working with older adults and enriching their lives through creativity? Join our vibrant assisted living community as an Artist in Residence, where your watercolor talent and love for people can make a meaningful impact.

We are seeking a warm, patient, and experienced artist with a background in visual arts to lead small group watercolor sessions with residents who are living with memory loss and other forms of dementia. This is not just a job-it's a calling to help preserve dignity, awaken joy, and create beauty.

Job Location: Green Bay, WI

Job Type: Part-time (Afternoons, 2x/week)

About the Program

Our community has a strong tradition of celebrating artistic expression, particularly among residents with Alzheimer's and dementia, whose ability to appreciate and create art is often retained even as other skills fade. Past participants have shown remarkable engagement, pride, and connection through our Artist in Residence program.

Each year culminates in a public Gallery Night showcasing one selected watercolor from each resident's collection-professionally mounted on canvas and displayed with pride during a celebratory evening of wine, cheese, and community.

Responsibilities

• Conduct 1-2 watercolor sessions weekly in small-group settings (afternoons preferred)
• Develop creative themes (e.g., musical instruments, seasons, travel memories) that encourage engagement and storytelling
• Offer patient, individualized support and gentle guidance through each art session
• Collaborate with care staff to support residents' comfort and participation
• Help curate and prepare art for the annual Gallery Night exhibition

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Fine Arts, Art Education, or related field
• Demonstrated skill and personal practice in watercolor painting
• Experience working with older adults, particularly those with dementia, is highly preferred
• Compassionate, encouraging demeanor with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to adapt and inspire creativity in participants with a wide range of abilities
