Job Description

Corporate Giving Work:
*Manage and grow a defined, targeted portfolio of corporate prospects with demonstrated or potential ties to Spaulding.
*Collaborate with colleagues, hospital leadership, and volunteer leadership (including members of the Board of Trustees and other development-related committees and groups) to identify and build on relationships with corporations and develop strategies to engage local and national businesses, C-suite executives, and community leaders.
*Work closely with the Chief Development Officer on corporate giving strategies.
*Prepare gift/grant proposals for corporate consideration.
*Collaborate with the Development Events team to identify, cultivate, and solicit corporate event sponsors.
*For philanthropic gift conversations, develop strategies and plans for prospects within an effective moves management structure, forming relationships with key prospects and donors to reach our goal of raising significant dollars and resources for Spaulding (including our internal goal of 10% of all philanthropic revenue coming from corporate sources).
*Work closely with clinical and research leaders at Spaulding to identify mutually beneficial collaborative opportunities with potential long-term corporate partners. Ensure these opportunities are vetted appropriately by Spaulding senior leadership.
*Help to develop guidelines for corporate giving recognition as well as stewardship engagement where needed.
*Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Prospect Research and Development to engage in prospect research that will identify additional potential corporate supporters. Identify major gifts prospects among corporate constituents and work collaboratively with colleagues to strategize on best approaches.
Foundation Giving Work:
*Manage and grow an active portfolio of foundation funders to cultivate, solicit, and steward.
*Forge collaborations with Spaulding clinical staff, program directors, hospital administrators, and researchers in order to identify and develop potential funding opportunities for appropriate foundations.
*Work strategically to execute the grant proposal process for select foundation relationships by participating in concept development, proposal writing, editing, submission, follow up, and stewardship/reporting.
*Work with colleagues to identify new sources of foundation revenue and analyze foundation prospects and match them with appropriate funding opportunities.
*Work closely with Major Gifts officers and department leadership in strategy and proposal development for family foundations.
*Build and maintain collaborations across Spaulding leadership, administration, physicians, researchers, and Development staff.
*Work with Mass General Brigham Research Management and other related departments in preparing research- and industry-related foundation grant applications.
*Ensure ongoing awareness and understanding of government grant opportunities
Other:
*Ensure that all interactions, forecasts, and strategies are recorded in the Atlas (CRM) database as outlined by the Development Systems team.
*Travel as needed.
*Attend special events.
*Fulfill other duties, as assigned.

Experience

  • 5+ years of corporate and foundation fundraising experience, preferably in a hospital/healthcare or academic setting, with proven success in raising gift commitments of five figures or more.
  • Proven ability to motivate, engage, and work with high-value prospects and donors, volunteers, senior staff, and similar constituencies in a collaborative manner.
  • Experience with stewardship and donor recognition programs a plus.
  • Ability to learn and easily explain often-complex medical conditions, treatments, and related terminology.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rule is required.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with a particular emphasis on foundation grant writing and stewardship reporting.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office technology and proven experience using a fundraising/constituent management database, e.g., Raiser's Edge, Blackbaud CRM.
  • Proven ability to develop strong and meaningful relationships with key internal and external constituencies, including volunteer leaders, Board and committee members, and corporate/community leaders.
  • Problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Professionalism, resourcefulness, flexibility, a learning mindset, trustworthiness, and respect.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong adherence to patient privacy, confidentiality, and other hospital network protocols.
