Job Description

House Manager

Compass, Inc. is a progressive, non-profit organization that supports individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. We are accepting applications for House Manager positions in Silver Spring to manage the day-to-day activities of the residential facility of Compass. This position requires ability to effectively manage behavioral challenges, provide detailed attention to medical needs, and develop recreational skills and activities for the individuals residing at the group home. Additionally, this position ensures staff supervision and coverage for the facility, ensures the overall health, safety, and welfare of the individuals residing in the facility, coordinates proper care and follow-through with medical appointments and ensures adherence to COMAR regulations, DDA standards, HIPAA regulations, and other legal and regulatory standards.

Hours: Mon Fri 7a-3pm

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong supervisory and management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to support individuals with challenging behaviors and provide leadership to staff in this regard
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
  • Computer literacy a must.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at once and ensure proper follow through as needed
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • A high level of commitment to take initiative and maintain a positive "can do" attitude
  • A high level of personal accountability, integrity and ethical standards
  • Effective ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work effectively with family members/guardians as well as state and local governing authorities
  • A keen interest in improving the quality of life for the individuals served by Compass, Inc.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent. At least two years' experience working in human services preferably with persons with developmental disabilities and/or mental health disorders. Prior supervisory experience and completion of college-level coursework in a related field preferred. Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record. Must be CPR First Aid certified or obtain prior to starting. Proof of COVID vaccination may be required or must become fully vaccinated within 1st 45 days of employment.

Compensation: $27-$28.50 an hour. Excellent benefits include health, dental, vision, short term disability, life insurance, EAP, retirement plan with generous employer match, three weeks PTO, 10 paid holidays.
