Principal Engineer Job Summary:
The Principal Engineer position will be responsible for leading the engineering team in a technical role only and providing technical expertise to the organization. The senior-level technical engineer will develop and implement engineering solutions for the organization, manage technical projects, and oversee the design, development, and implementation of engineering solutions.
The successful candidate:
The Principal, Desktop Engineer is responsible for acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Desktop Engineering managed solutions including but not limited to Microsoft Configuration Manager, Microsoft Intune, JAMF, Citrix, and VMWare. The Principal, Desktop Engineer will also have a strong knowledge of Citrix with regards to both application presentation and VDI. This individual will be responsible for engineering and supporting solutions for the Desktop Engineering Team and also mentoring members of the Desktop Engineering team.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engineering solutions
Lead and manage technical projects from conception to completion
Oversee and manage the design, development, and implementation of engineering solutions
Provide technical expertise and guidance to the engineering team
Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure successful project completion
Analyze engineering challenges and develop solutions
Monitor and assess the performance of the engineering team
Research and recommend new technologies, processes, and procedures
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
Minimum Experience:
6 years of experience as a Desktop Engineer
At least 3 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
Preferred Experience:
Microsoft Windows 11 and Windows 10 upgrades, Citrix, Microsoft Configuration Manager, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server 2016+, JAMF, Microsoft M365, and VMWare vCenter.

PERFORMANCE DETAILS
1. What's the major objective(s) of the role? Specifically, what does this person need to do to be considered a success? What will they be working on? The candidate will be helping DQ finish their Windows 10 to Windows 11 migration which is currently not on target. The successful candidate will have demonstrable knowledge troubleshooting SCCM deployment issues. The candidate must have strong Windows 11 image creation skills as well as troubleshooting skills.

1. Strong Windows 10 to Windows 11 upgrade experience
2. Strong Microsoft System Center Configuration Manger (SCCM)
3. Strong Microsoft WSUS knowledge and experience
3. What are the MUST HAVE Critical Skills for this position (For critical skills, please also describe what the person needs to do with them to be considered very good at it.)
1. Strong understanding of a project and how project communications and updates must be delivered
2. Know how on creating burn down charts used to demonstrate progress
3. Ability to explain complicated issues to less technical project managers and leadership
4. What are the NICE TO HAVE technologies you wouldn't mind seeing on a candidate's resume?
1. Citrix Vdi experience
2. Experience troubleshooting desktops with security software such as Sentinel One and BitGlass/Focrepoint
