Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling or a related field, active School Counselor license and 1+ years School Counselor experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A licensed mental health professional is needed to provide essential therapy services within a K-12 school setting. This full-time (40 hours per week), onsite position is based in Avoca, Iowa, with a schedule distributed across multiple locations: two days at Lenox, two days at Cam, and one day at AHSTW. The role involves managing a PK-12 caseload, typically seeing 6-8 students daily to support their emotional and behavioral well-being through brief individual and group therapy sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct mental health interventions, including individual, group, and family counseling.
• Collaborate with teachers, mental health specialists, DHS personnel, and other stakeholders to identify and support students with social-emotional and behavioral challenges.
• Provide consultation, coaching, and modeling for staff on behavior management and teaching strategies.
• Coordinate with home, school, and community agencies to plan and facilitate student-centered support.
• Utilize research and evidence-based practices to inform interventions and services.
• Administer assessments and interpret results to guide treatment and preventive measures.
• Participate in crisis intervention, case coordination, and professional development activities.

Qualifications:

• Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree or equivalent mental health-related masters degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid Iowa licensure as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), or equivalent recognized from another state.
• School Social Work Endorsement or Statement of Professional Recognition from the Iowa Department of Education.
• Two years of post-degree supervised clinical experience in mental health assessment and intervention.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to perform physical activities required for school-based practice.
• Willingness and ability to travel between assigned school locations.
